The Legacy Of Red Yak

Yes, it's true, there was once a band called Red Yak. This website is what's left of them. While the website is no longer about the band, you can still find their footprints all over it.

Red Yak was originally comprised of Kirk Anderson, Rob LaBarge, Darren, Eric Moore and Dave Shirley. In later years, Eric and Dave left the band and were replaed by Jeremy Hagan.

Red Yak recorded "Morder" in 1996 and released it in 1997. At the time, it was a pioneering multi-media work by an independent band. It was the first "enhanced CD" by a Denver band and one of the first by a band not on a major label. The CD received rave reviews both for its music and its multi-media content.

At their peak, Red Yak was well known in the Rocky Mountain region for their high-energy shows. While their music tended toward dark themes and angry sounds, their shows were humorous events that made it clear that the band didn't take themselves too seriously.

Since 2000, the band has dissolved. All of the members remain friends and still work on projects, musical and non-musical, together. You can find the fruit of these collaborations at this site.

This is a VR scene of what Red Yak's rehearsal studio in Darren's basement used to look like.
